One word. Tiny conversations. Real connections.

1. So, what exactly is Moli.Boli?

We're a culture builder, disguised as a box of beautiful cards. We help South Asian diaspora kids discover their culture through heritage languages. One word at a time. Our illustrated culture cards turn everyday moments into conversations about food, feelings, family, and all those little things that make home feel like home. No textbooks. No drills. No pressure. One word. Tiny conversations. Real connections.

2. Wait. Aren't these just flashcards?

Well, technically, they're cards. But that's where the similarity ends. Traditional flashcards teach and test. Ours spark conversations. A card featuring roti might lead to dinner, Nani's kitchen, or a lively debate about whose recipe is best. That's why we call them culture cards. Language is just the beginning.

3. Why did you start Moli.Boli?

Because my daughter once thought I was speaking Chinese. When I was speaking Hindi. True story. I pointed out how long the sadak (road) was, and she asked, “Mummy, why are we talking in Chinese?” Parenting crisis #463. English had quietly taken over our conversations, and the language resources I found felt dated or irrelevant. So I started Moli.Boli. — Vrinda, Founder & Mum

4. Why focus on diaspora kids?

Because outside India, our languages don't always surround us. English can become the default, even when another language is spoken at home. We want heritage language to feel like a natural part of everyday life, not compulsory Saturday homework. Because home isn't just a place. Sometimes, it's a language.

5. Is Moli.Boli about learning a language or discovering a culture?

Both. But we're not trying to produce pint-sized linguists. We're helping children get curious about the stories, food, jokes, songs and memories that languages carry. Maybe that leads to classes. Maybe it simply means understanding what Dadi says at dinner. Both sound lovely to us.

6. What's inside a Moli.Boli box?

22 bilingual culture cards.

Each has an everyday English word and a calming, thoughtful illustration on one side. Flip it and you see the same illustration with the word in the script of your chosen heritage language— and an easy Romanised pronunciation.

Some packs have a blank card that you can use to customise to a special word of your own.

Little people can relate the language to the world around them, one word at a time.
Grownups can join in too!!

7. Which languages do you support?

Eight to begin with: Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati and Marathi. India has an extraordinary linguistic landscape, and we'd love to explore more of it. Please check the shop for the language-and-collection combinations currently available for preorder.

8. What age are Moli.Boli cards designed for?

Our first collections are designed primarily for ages 1–4. Those early years are full of language discovery. Older kids can enjoy exploring their heritage language too, and we suspect grandparents might have the most fun of all. Always supervise young children and follow the age and safety guidance on your pack.

9. How do I actually use the cards with my child?

However you like. Prop one up at breakfast, bring a few in the car, or take one to the supermarket. Our favourite game? I Spy Hindi. “I spy a parda!” Your little detective goes looking for the curtain. Then reverse it. No lesson plans. No progress charts. Just tiny conversations.

10. How much time do we need every day?

As little as a minute. We know about school runs, spilled milk, missing shoes and bedtime negotiations. One card at breakfast or one word on the way to nursery is enough to begin. Keep it easy, enjoyable and repeatable.

11. My child understands our language but refuses to speak it. Help?

Ah, the classic diaspora parenting experience. You speak Hindi. They reply in English. Understanding and speaking are different skills; your child may understand far more than they're ready to say. Keep it fun and useful without demanding a performance. Understanding counts, too.

12. What if I don't speak my heritage language very well myself?

Welcome aboard. Perhaps you understand Gujarati but don't speak it confidently, or can't read Malayalam. No judgement here. Our cards include the original script and Romanised pronunciation so you can join in. You might rediscover a few words yourself.

13. Will learning another language confuse my child?

Short answer? No.

Growing up with more than one language doesn't confuse children or hold them back.

Your toddler might ask for paani in the middle of an English sentence. Or call the dog a kutta one day and a "doggy" the next.

That's not confusion. That's a small brain juggling two worlds, and doing it rather brilliantly.

You don't have to choose between English and your heritage language.

There's room for both.

And plenty of room for a third, fourth or fifth, too.

14. Is it too late to introduce our heritage language?

Not at all. Early exposure can help, but language learning doesn't have an expiry date. Start with familiar things: food, family, feelings and favourite objects. Make it relevant, make it fun, and please don't turn it into another thing to feel guilty about.

15. Is there any science behind the Moli.Boli approach?

We're glad you asked. We love our science. Our approach draws on early language acquisition, child development and meaningful repetition. Children benefit from hearing and using language in real interactions: see a banana, hear the word, spot another at the market, talk about it at snack time. No fluency-in-30-days promises here.

16. Can grandparents use Moli.Boli too?

Please do. Imagine Nani holding up an aam card. One minute you're talking mangoes, the next she's telling stories of sticky-fingered summers in her childhood garden. That's the magic we're hoping for. The cards can be conversation starters over video calls, too.

17. What if we speak more than one Indian language at home?

Then your home probably sounds a lot like ours. Hindi with Mum, Punjabi with Dad, English with friends, another language with grandparents. Our different language editions help you explore the ones that matter to your family. There's no rule that a child must belong to just one linguistic world.

18. Why not just enrol my child in language classes?

You absolutely can.

We're not here to replace teachers, tutors or formal language learning.

Think of us as the little nudge that happens between lessons. Or before your child's even ready for one.

A classroom can teach your child to conjugate a verb. It won't teach them why Dadi laughs every time she says it.

We want heritage language to feel like connection first, curriculum second.

Not just another worksheet.

And if Moli.Boli nudges your child toward an actual classroom one day? Brilliant.

19. Where are Moli.Boli cards made? And are they safe for little hands?

Our cards are made in India, and safety is a priority. They're being developed with EN 71 (European) and ASTM F963 (US) toy safety standards in mind. This isn't a claim that certification or independent testing is complete. Please check current product packaging and listings for verified safety, testing and age guidance; supervise little ones during play.

20. What's next for Moli.Boli?

Oh, we have plans. More languages, more collections, more stories and more ways to connect little people with the cultures they come from. We're not trying to recreate an India our children have never lived in. We're helping them discover the parts that can travel with them. A little bit of home, wherever home happens to be.
