Home is a language, not just a place.
That’s a core belief as we build Moli.Boli
That instant spark of recognition that makes you swivel your head when you hear someone speak in your language while queuing up at the Colosseum — or at your neighbourhood coffee shop.
That’s home.
We’re helping diaspora kids embrace their culture one word at a time. Because words are the easiest to pair with taste and touch. And eventually memory and identity.
As a diaspora kid, some of my favourite memories are those of late-night conversations with a nice bottle of whiskey, acidity-inducing Blue Lays and Haldiram namkeen, and probably some Maggi if we hit 3 a.m. And what do I remember most? Loud laughter and even louder conversations in Hindi, with Punjabi strategically used for emotional high points and venting.
Those are the feels I want to gift my daughters when they are grown up and building a home away from home. A little bubble of warmth and laughter they can escape to with close friends after a hard day.
And I’m doing my best to give them the words — and that foundation — now so they can use them to build out their own life on their own terms — but knowing where they come from ❤️
The language is the doorway. The real goal is rooted identity. So if you’re a diaspora parent navigating cultural loss, come say hi.
